Good evening. I am having some issues trying to program chrysler vehicles. I know it should be fairly easy but I need a bit of help. If someone could just get me a run down of how it works it would be greatly appreciated. I've tried and all I get is a flash fail because of an embedded encryption

Are you doing a reflash from the oem website? If not you will need a laptop and pay for
    subscription and use the vci

It is a 2012 dodge challenger. It came in with charging issues. It was not charging at all so we went ahead and replaced a new alternator. After replacement it began to charge 17.1v I figured it was defective so I replaced it again. After the third one reading the same I called the dealer and they said it was pcm regulated. First time I hear that but I figure if I reflash I can rule that out??? Never had an issue with the alternators over charging on other challengers and chargers

Where did you get the alternator I have ran into that problem with alternators in the
past including chrysler oem parts if bought from auto zone or advanced auto that's
    even more of a problem

You will need to acces the WCM module. It should have a section for "Replace pcm" it will give you step by step procedures of transfering the skim and then the vin to the new pcm. Then you can flash or update the pcm. You will need the 4 digit pin to access the skim transfer. On some Chrysler pcm replacements I have had to flash the pcm 1st. then transfer skim then vin. I am not sure why it is backwards on some models. To obtain a 4 digit pin you will need NASFT access or ask the selling dealership were the pcm was purchased. They can get it for you, if your parts guy works with you.
